Why are movies listed ...

Why are movies listed in The Stranger often listed under working titles or "Untitled (so and so) Family Comedy"?

For example, today's listings include "Brand New Day" instead of "Love Happens". Do they start working on the listings a year in advance? Do they hate Ice Cube?

    Hi,

Here's the technical explanation for this annoying problem..

It's because some of our movie data is imported from a third-party service, and they'll often insert details about an upcoming movie before the title is finalized. Since we like to edit and customize our movie info, we don't allow their system to overwrite our data once it's imported. So, for some films, the data is never updated and a temporary title persists. We catch most of them as the film's get closer to release, but some slip through.

    Love Happens has been corrected.

    Thanks!
