• The impossible beauty of the place. Water, mountains and cleverly disguised sprawl. The small town culture in a city big enough to be a true city. The fact that a giant swath of it is closed down for the funeral of a single police officer. The complete integration of the huge LGBT community. We are everywhere, doing everything. Is the financial district liberal or belltown? I think the whole city is liberal. I would not describe West Seattle as a conservative neighborhood, or Ballard or Seward park. Even the conservatives here are fairly liberal on social issues. For that matter, the majority of Burien voted for Kerry in 2004. I also think bubble is an inaccurate description of the politics of the region. The Governor and our senators are liberal. They must have gotten votes from somewhere more than downtown. There is a provincialism to the inner city and the Stranger, that dismisses everyone else as outsiders or worse, conservatives. Referendum 71 passed all the way north to the Canadian border. Its just possible that liberals live as far north as shoreline. • There are lots of awesome people. And they create the awesome liberal culture of our amazing city. Part of this culture is the "big city with a small city feel". Lots of trees, plants, and parks (ahem, Emerald City) help preserve this small city feel. And the surrounding area (Puget Sound, mountains) are also fucking pretty. Oh, and does the word "microbrewery" mean anything to you? "God," our city fucking RULES.
