Cheapest way to aquire a proscription and the ensuing third and fourth eye?

Any lines on a cheap optometrist and discount glasses? Going nearsighted and finally annoyed enough to get it checked out, screwing with my ability to gauge how drunk I am. Any cheapo clinics that may sometimes have an eye doc on staff or one that has a sliding scale? Any ball park figures from any myopic paupers out there?
Thanks

You might also try a more socially responsible choice:

    Costco Optical

They are comparable to Wal-Mart in cost (according to this source: http://eyeexamcost.com/, this site also has other price comparisons you might find helpful.) and you won't have to endure the wrath of righteous Seattleites on Questionland, SLOG or elsewhere.

The UW medical school has lots of students who need practice doing eye exams and other things. Go in and get checked out cheap.

Order glasses online! I got prescription sunglasses for $30 total. They took a while, since they shipped from Hong Kong, but they work perfectly and shipping was cheap. It's a bit of a pain not to be able to try them on before buying, but they are cheap and functional. There are lots of sites (Google: "cheap online glasses"). Some international, some US. Some let you upload a photo of yourself to "try" them on.
A few sites to start with:

    "proscription (plural proscriptions)

    1. A prohibition.
    2. (history) Decree of condemnation toward one or more persons, especially in the Roman antiquity.
    * 1837, Alfred John Church and William Jackson Brodribb, Tacitus' Annals, book 1

He was wholly unopposed, for the boldest spirits had fallen in battle, or in the proscription [...]

    3. The act of proscribing, or its result.
    4. A decree or law that prohibits."

This question's headline makes no sense to me. Third and fourth eye? I thought this was about yoga or some type of spiritual enlightenment by proscribing the negative and acquiring a third eye- I was hoping to learn more about this mysterious fourth. Of course I don't wear glasses and I am not initiated into the lingo of optometry.

As much as I hate patronizing the place, the Wal-Mart vision centers do checkups for about $90. Their cheapo glasses will also work for your needs.

Just don't tell anybody in the Seattle metro area you went there. You'll never hear the end of it.
