What kind of cool stuf...
Dinolock_small

What kind of cool stuff do you have in your workspace or on your desk?

Anything from wall decorations to suspiciously useful desk utensils to neat toys to shiny things that...... oooo shiny.

http://www.thinkgeek.com/geektoys/cubegoodies/ is the only repository of this stuff that I know of, and most of it is kinda meh or expensive.

Hm. I guess my desk is kind of boring.

I just have a cheap-o magnetic dolphin sculpture toy that I got from Gameworks:

and my limited edition Daily WTF mug:

The only personal items on my desk are my two favorite mustachioed men, Chester A. Arthur and Sherlock Hemlock.

Thinkgeek is the best place ever. I'll be doing all my Christmas shopping for coworkers there this year.

Out-of-the-ordinary desk items in list form:

-Mini Boba Fett bust I got at a convention

-A family of tiny quartz pigs I got at the AZ/NM border

-Tea heater thing (like a coffee maker for hot water) - best ten bucks I ever spent in my life

-Hiding behind my monitor is a two-foot absolutely beautiful never-before-used bong that will remain unused (a parting gift from when I moved up here). Been thinking of pulling a Grandma's Boy actually.

-1976 Nikkormat SLR camera w/ telephoto lens

-Singing Bowl with mallet and little pillow

-Two dice (a d20 and a d6) for the Sunday evening Star Wars D&D via Skype (I challenge anyone to beat that level of nerdiness)

-Post-it with quotes, a fortune cookiee fortune and a polariod.

-And a wind up King Louie Burger King toy from an aeon ago

All under a National Geographic poster of the geologic history of Mars

(the desk and hutch are absolutely massive)

Not on my desk, exactly, but my favorite geek toy is my speedcube. It's a rubik's cube that is specially designed for solving quickly, as you may have gathered from the name. It is lubricated. It has special tiles that are extra-grippy. My solve time is still a totally slow and very lame 2min at best, but the cube is sexeh, though.

I have a bunch of desk tchotchkes, many of which I purchased at Daiso , but none I love as much as my periodic table mug from OMSI.
