Where can I rent a nice rustic cabin in Washington?

For January - should be beautiful, not too pricey, with places to snowshoe or hike nearby. It's for our (rustic) vacation!

Lochaerie Resort at Lake Quinault.  Not super cheap, but definitely beautiful.

The have a several cabins that range from two person up to 6 or 8.  Check out pictures and descriptions of my favorties.

Angeles is a one-bedroom, perfect for 2-3 people.

Colonel Bob has 3 double beds.  When I was a kid, my family of 5 shared this with a family of 4.  That might be stretching it a little, but it can be done.

There is lots of hiking and biking to be done.  It really is beautiful.

I'd recommend looking into the Blue Mountains in South-East Washington near Walla Walla. Its a not-heavily-traveled area, the people are very friendly, the wine is fantabulous, and I'm sure you could find exactly what you are looking for there. They even have a Ski 'Resort'!

washington state parks has a huge network of cabins and yurts in state parks all over the place, they are super cheap (and consequently pretty basic), but they've got the basic necessities available in some spectacular locations.

Be aware, the vendor who runs the reservation system is super inflexible when it comes to cancellations, but the facilities themselves rock!

We went to Foss River Lodge near Stevens Pass for our Honeymoon. We loved having the cabin all to ourselves. It has a hot tub and is right on a river.

I've been wanting to check out places in the Methow Valley. Not sure if they have a lot of lodging options on this particular site, but I have seen other sites that list cabin rentals. Here's some info on snowshoeing there - http://www.mvsta.com/winter/snowshoe.html

There are huts you can rent quite cheaply, that are rustic.
    There's these:

I don't know if there are any others out there. I know some folks who X-country skied from hut to hut for a long weekend vacation, they seemed to like it.

There are a multitude of vacation home rental websites out there; I prefer to use cyberrentals.com, and homeaway.com due to relative ease of use.

I've looked into this in years past, and I've found the Lake Cushman area on the eastern Olympic Peninsula and the Cle Elum/Roslyn/Ronald area to be richest in good deals. About the best deal you will find is a place that runs $15-20 per person; expect to find plenty of rates that average $25-30pp.

I'm reluctant to share this info, but you should check this place out: themoosehouse.com
Their winter rates are really cheap, just a bit over $100 on a weekday night for up to six people, and there is both hiking and snowshoeing (if there's snow) nearby. What used to be Lake Cushman State Park is a 5 min walk down the road, and offers about 7 miles of lowland trails that should be hikeable year-round. Another few minutes down the road is access to a system of logging roads that is closed off to vehicular traffic during the winter to protect elk herds. Bring a bike to cover more ground. It's a pretty, quiet area.

If you specifically want to go snowshoeing, look at eastern Washington, or look for last-minute deals for Rainier and Baker on Craigslist.
